There's a big disparity in betting trends between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, opening the door for a bet against the spread between these two playoff hopefuls.
New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings: Betting Odds
Spread: New Orleans -3, Over/under: 41 points, New Orleans -148 | Minnesota +124
New Orleans sits atop the NFC South at 5-4, a division many think is the worst in football. The Saints have won two straight games, and their defense has been a driving factor there. Derek Carr is playing some solid football at QB, but he hasn't been anything but league average in that regard.
The Vikings have gone through the wringer this season. They lost All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson for an extended period of time due to a hamstring issue, and QB Kirk Cousins tore his achilles in the midst of one of his best seasons yet. Last week, Minnesota lost backup QB Jaren Hall on the second drive of the game and watched as a multitude of other skill-position players left with injuries.
Despite it all, Minnesota won in Week 9 in what will go down as a legendary game for Joshua Dobbs, who joined the team on just Tuesday. The win marked Minnesota's fourth straight win, moving the team to 5-4. If the season ended today, the Vikings would be in the playoffs. While Jefferson won't suit up this week, it's hard to ignore the magic in Minnesota right now.
The Vikings are 5-3-1 ATS this season while the Saints are only 2-6-1 ATS. Both Minnesota and New Orleans are 7-2 to the under.
As you may have presumed from above, we're enamored with Minnesota right now and think this price is too far off based on season-long trends and what we've seen from both teams.
Dobbs is exciting, and the Vikings have shown themselves to be creative on offense. The Saints have lacked much offensive firepower, and they're one of the least profitable teams to back against the spread this season.
Run and grab the home dogs here as the Vikings look to win their fifth straight game.
